Quote Of The Day: John Adams

John Adams in a letter to Thomas Jefferson April 6, 1796

"Corruption in Elections has heretofore destroyed all Elective Governments.  What Regulations or Precautions may be devised to prevent it in the future, I am content with you to leave Posterity to consider.  You and I shall go to the Kingdom of the just with Hearts pure and hands clean of all Corruption in elections;
 so much I firmly believe."

John Adams to his wife, Abigail 1777

"Posterity!  You will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom!  I hope you will make good use of it!  If you do not, I shall repent it in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it."
