America Votes

Before we post our recent findings on the Republican Victory Fund, we came across some other, rather disturbing, bits of information which we thought we should pass along.  We'll present the information in two separate entries so as to not confuse the different affiliations.


The first installment will be on an Independent Expenditure group called America Votes who registered in Arizona on October 17, 2012.  Joan Fitz-Gerald is the President of America Votes which is headquartered in Washington D.C.

Of course, we're familiar with groups like the AFL-CIO, SEIU, NEA, and Planned Parenthood.  Some of the others might seem a bit more obscure.

But, remember the Center for Community Change? 

Their "action arm" called Campaign for Community Change is an organization that donated $9000 to the leftist group, Promise Arizona, to help support "republican" Jerry Lewis during the recall election.  Jerry Lewis even chipped in a $100 donation to PAZ in June and the only candidate that PAZ helped during the primary election was Raquel Teran, Randy Parraz's community organizer sidekick.  Quid pro quo.  Wouldn't it be ironic if PAZ helps Jerry Lewis' opponent in the general election?

Also, the leaders of the Arizona AFL-CIO (Rebekah Friend and Paul Castaneda) personally helped Randy Parraz get Jerry Lewis elected.  In fact, Castaneda is the treasurer of Moving Mesa Forward, Parraz and Chad Snow's creation which donated over $6500 to help Bob Worsley defeat Russell Pearce in the 2012 primary election.  Someone might want to inform Snow that they owe $150 in late fees for their group.

So, imagine our surprise when we noticed that America Votes contributed to Jerry Lewis' Democratic opponent, Ed Ableser.

What?  Wait a second...the same groups that helped Jerry Lewis get elected during the recall are now donating to his opposition?  

And not only are they donating to support Ed Ableser but they are also donating to Andrew Sherwood's campaign.  Sherwood was a big help to Parraz during the recall effort.  He was also the best man at Todd Landfried's wedding.

Who would have EVER seen that coming?

Remember when the Director of Center for Community Change, Deepak Bhargava, said this on Obama's Poverty Agenda?

Three ingredients necessary for transformational change to happen.
(6:17) "We do need visionary leadership that's capable of building durable coalitions. We need crisis, economic, foreign policy or otherwise, that force the breakdown of old paradigms and old ways of seeing the world. And most importantly, we need independent social movements that create public will to generate ideas that will deliver votes."

and this on immigration.

"...a group of immigrant leaders approached me and the Center for Community Change with the idea of doing a national campaign to win legalization for the growing population of undocumented people in the US. Who needs enemies?


It feels like just yesterday when the S.U.I.T. was ignorantly put up to run against Russell Pearce in a recall election that was instigated by the G.N.A.T. (Goading Noxious Alinsky Thug), Randy Parraz.

Back in the day, we tried to warn Jerry Lewis that he was being played by the left. He chose to ignore the warnings and instead, brushed them off by claiming he personally had never met Randy Parraz. Plausible deniability. 

Lewis wasn't the only Republican who was being played.

There was also the "former Republican Women" President who the G.N.A.T. paraded around at every opportunity.

We also noticed Rosie Lopez in the first photo above.   We recently learned that her husband, Joe Lopez, co-founded Chicanos por la Causa.

By the way, Lewis was invited to speak with PAZ in January 2012.  Less than two months after the election.  We imagine he probably thanked them for their (wink wink) support during the recall.  Oh, and their "civil tone".

And here we are again. Same story. Different day.

We've already pointed out the different times that Parraz and Promise Arizona en Accion (PAZ) have helped canvass for the upcoming primary election in LD25.

They were at it again this last weekend.

Breitbart posted an article about a Wisconsin Teacher's Union being trained by a well-funded Alinsky's IAF group.

This didn't come as a big shock to us.  We have a Teacher's Union in our own backyard that is an actual AFFILIATE of the Alinsky IAF.  And the teachers in this union are

TEACHING OUR OWN CHILDREN.

We are a professional association advocating for quality public schools for every child.

Yet, most of what they REALLY do is for the benefit of the teachers themselves. Oh, and they are activists for liberal causes. Anything for the children, right?

-Mesa teachers and support staff members have borne the brunt of a bad economy plus a legislature that has certainly not been supportive of public education, public education teachers and support staff. Our elected "leaders" have been especially punitive toward the concept that employees have participation in the decisions that affect our profession, our careers and the student learning for which we are tasked.

-A meeting on February 28, 2012 at Mesa High School  featured Joe Rubio from the IAF Valley Interfaith Project who spoke about "Organizing for Power."

Joe Rubio is the Supervisor for the IAF Southwest Affiliates. We know what he thinks about immigration. He said, criticizing AZ lawmakers who passed SB1070, "Where do the legislators think business will find workers?"

We also know how Rubio felt about the Arizona Accord....

"The accord focuses on common sense solutions, not demagoguery, and it shows that good economics and a humane approach to immigration are not only possible but very necessary.”

So, the MEA teacher's group is hosting a meeting with the Supervisor for the IAF? SAUL ALINSKY's IAF?

It sounds EXACTLY like something that would be useful

"for the children".

Just as we're sure the strategies discussed in a leadership training meeting will help train them to be better teachers "for the children".

Like: ability to organize, we are activists, organizers, and our favorite....

"Educate so that the word ADVOCATE is seen positive"

So, we have the Mesa Education Support Personnel Association with the Mesa PUBLIC SCHOOLS who is affiliated with the IAF.

We also have the MEA (and the AEA and NEA) with Mesa Public Schools who have ties to the IAF. Suppose those teachers who work for Mesa Public schools and those who pay dues to groups like the MEA, AEA or NEA realize that they are directly supporting the IAF?

All in all it's just

 another brick in the wall.

Adams And His Lobbyist Infatuation

The Adams campaign recently sent out an email blasting his opponent, Matt Salmon.
Let's take a moment to break it down.

"It is clear that the facts show Mr. Salmon is just a run of the mill lobbyist, seeking special interest influence. While one source had it wrong, all of the evidence clearly proves the underlying point: Matt Salmon is a Washington lobbyist with a record of seeking influence from Democrats."

Mr. Adams seems to enjoy criticizing Mr. Salmon about lobbying while being completely content accepting campaign donations from lobbyists.  Oh yeah, and those who have a "special interest".  Especially when they were received while he ran for a small legislative district.  Now, it's not to say that some of the names listed below who donated to Adams' legislature campaign may have also donated at one time to Matt Salmon's Congressional run.  More to the point, it displays blatant hypocrisy and attempt to mislead people into believing that Adams is squeeky clean when it comes to lobbyists and special interest groups.

When Kirk Adams was IN the legislature, he was one of only three Republicans who teamed up with known leftists on a "guest worker" bill in 2008.  The bill was introduced by:

David. Lujan served in the House until 2010 when he tried to run for Attorney General but lost in the primary election.  He was recently appointed to replace Kyrsten Sinema who left to run for US Congress.  His voting record for this year can be found here.

Steve. Gallardo is Randy Parraz's eyes and ears in the legislature.  He personally canvassed in LD18 to help elect Jerry Lewis.  He is an open borders advocate who has ties to organizations like the AFL-CIO and the Occupy Phoenix movement.

Robert. Meza's platforms are the typical drumbeat of the left...his legislative efforts focus on social issues like health care, immigration, and equality.  He has co-sponsored legislation to repeal SB1070, the DREAM Act as well as denouncing Joe Arpaio. 

Chad. Campbell was actively involved with the recall effort against Russell Pearce.  He is also a member of the faculty for the Center for Progressive Leadership training organization. 

Kyrsten. Sinema has been connected to the Communist Party USA.  She is a member of the faculty for the Center for Progressive Leadership training which was attended by people like Raquel Teran and Lilia Alvarez (The alleged wife of Randy Parraz who is running for one of the open Maricopa County Board of Supervisors seats).

Phil. Lopes was the coordinator for the Arizona Progressive Democrats of America. One video of former Rep. Lopes shows him speaking at a Tucson Progressives Conference in April 2011. He says,

This was a video of Rep. Lopes at a recent Progressive Democrats of Arizona Caucus in January 2012. Also in attendance were Fred Barlam (with Randy Parraz's group Citizens for a Better Arizona and donor to Jerry Lewis), Carolyn Cooper (also with Parraz's group), and Todd Landfried (Spokesman for Arizona Employers for Immigration Reform and Jerry Lewis supporter).

He offered advice to those in attendance. He said, 

How do we energize, motivate our 800 plus members? There's one thing we can all do relatively easily and that is when you have a parade of candidates coming up here, think about the issues that are important to Progressives. Think about Medicare for all. Think about publicly financed elections. Think about clean energy and clean air and think about getting out of Afghanistan....the better question should be

 "When Matt Salmon was President of Comptel, the Comptel PAC donated to liberal democrats like Henry Waxman and Ed Markey. And, Salmon personally contributed to liberals like Ed Pastor and Joe Baca as recently as the 2010 election. These are the facts, and they are not in dispute."

We wonder when Mr. Adams will stop running from the facts and finally admit that he really doesn't have an issue with lobbyists or special interest groups and apparently, he doesn't really have an issue with people who donate to Democrats.

Recalls. How A Republic Morphs Into A Democracy

We've seen a significant increase recently with the use of a recall process in an effort to overthrow the will of the people in Arizona and Wisconsin.  The latest effort is taking place in Michigan.

Mayor Janice Daniels from Troy, Michigan is the latest victim.

The leader of this group is (surprisingly) a lawyer, Michael Binkowski.  The story, so far, has played out exactly the same way as the playbook for Arizona Senate President and author of SB1070,  Senator Russell Pearce recall effort.

1.  One leader

2.  Give the illusion of a movement with only a handful of "followers"

3.  Initiate a recall less than 3 months after the candidate takes office

4.  Have a good "reason"

( "In the few months in office, she has become a polarizing figure. Polarizing, because her rigid ideology has damaged Troy's reputation, alienated the business community, and made Troy the object of ridicule and scorn.")

Aside from being a "polarizing figure", the real problem according to those behind the recall effort, was that Mayor Daniels refused to accept a federal loan to the tune of $8.5 million dollars to finance a transportation center connected to the Detroit to Chicago Amtrak network.  Now, it is important to point out that Mayor Daniels CAMPAIGNED AGAINST the transit project so this should not have come as a huge shock to anyone.

The leader of the recall effort, Matthew Binkowski, said Recall Janice Daniels has a “core group of about a dozen individuals.”

So did the Recall Russell Pearce group.


It should be noted that there were plenty of other recall efforts which have been attempted (and were successful) mostly by leftist groups and unions over the last two years.  On the same day as the Russell Pearce recall election, Rep. Paul Scott from Michigan was also recalled.  The recall group managed to gather over 12,000 signatures in just 13 days.
