Arizona Obamacare Navigator Grant Recipients

Feels a lot like Acorn.

1.  Arizona Association of Community Health Centers whose free clinics include:

Adelante Healthcare  (CEO is on the board of the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce)

John C Lincoln Healthcare (Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce member)

Tidwell Family Care Center (AKA Clinica Adelante), a migrant health center serving all "residents" of Maricopa County.

The Greater Phoenix Chamber supported Brewer's Medicaid Expansion.  Payback?

Just a reminder of other campaign donations made by the Chamber's Greater Leadership Fund to those who helped ram through the Medicaid expansion.

John McComish

Jeff Dial

Bob Worsley (who enjoyed many donations from healthcare PACs for his campaign)

Residents For Accountability/Revitalize Arizona And Anita Dunn?

We first brought you the Independent Expenditure group called America Votes.

Next up, another IE called "Residents for Accountability."

The Chairman of this group is Israel Torres.  Torres is a partner in the Torres Consulting and Law Group and has received numerous awards such as one from Valle del Sol and the Daniel Ortega Public Service award.  Clients of the Torres firm include countless trade unions throughout the country.  Torres also sits on the board of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

One of the partners in the Torres firm is James Barton who was the Assistant Attorney General in 2010 who dropped the recall petitions challenge by Russell Pearce.

Residents for Accountability gave over $137,000 to another IE called "Revitalize Arizona" which Torres also Chairs.

Revitalize Arizona then spent the money to defeat Republicans such as John McComish (Senate District 18), Frank Antenori (Senator District 10) and Chester Crandell (Senator District 6) while supporting their Democrat opponents Tom Chabin (Senator District 6), Jane Hydrick (Senate District 18)  and David Bradley (Senate District 10).

Where else did Revitalize Arizona spend their money?

Democratic polling companies such as Lake Research Partners ($28,000) and SKD Knickerbocker ($24,000) both located in Washington D.C. .

The President of Lake Research is Celinda Lake.  Lake Research claims to be the "Most respected Democratic polling firms in the country."

It continues...

"The firms work has moved the Progressive agenda forward on a variety of issues.  Working against conservatives, Celinda's research demonstrated that the phrase 'religious political extremists' was much more communicative than the vernacular 'religious right.'  In the healthcare arena, her research showed that talking about 'reducing healthcare costs' and the 8 out of 10 working families without adequate health insurance was key."

Clients of Lake Research Partners include:

Bill Clinton
Joe Biden
Nancy Pelosi
Janet Napolitano
Sheila Jackson Lee
AFL-CIO
AFSCME
LIUNA
UFCW Arizona
SEIU Arizona
Ballot initiatives:  opposed California Prop 4 in 2008 which would require parental notification for an abortion, the Arizona Prop 107 "same sex marriage" amendment, and Arizona Prop 202 also in 2006 to increase the minimum wage.

The other company which was paid by Revitalize Arizona was SKD Knickerbocker.  The letters "SKD" stand for "Squier, Knapp, Dunn".

The "Dunn" in SKD is none other than Obama's former White House Communications Mao-loving director, Anita Dunn who has gone on to represent Sandra Fluke in her faux media firestorm charade.  Prior to her White House position, Dunn served on Obama's 2008 campaign consulting team as the Senior Advisor/Chief Communications Officer.

Another managing director for SKDKnickerbocker is Hilary "Ann Romney never worked a day in her life" Rosen.

These two companies were paid over $50,000 to help progressive groups in Arizona defeat Republicans in an effort to move the Arizona Senate more to the left.

America Votes

Before we post our recent findings on the Republican Victory Fund, we came across some other, rather disturbing, bits of information which we thought we should pass along.  We'll present the information in two separate entries so as to not confuse the different affiliations.

The first installment will be on an Independent Expenditure group called America Votes who registered in Arizona on October 17, 2012.  Joan Fitz-Gerald is the President of America Votes which is headquartered in Washington D.C.

Partners of America Votes include:

Arizona AFL-CIO
Arizona SEIU
UFCW Local 99
AFSCME Local 3111
Emily's List
Arizona List (Committee for Pro-choice Democratic Women)
NEA
NAACP
Planned Parenthood
NARAL-Pro Choice
Center for Community Change

Of course, we're familiar with groups like the AFL-CIO, SEIU, NEA, and Planned Parenthood.  Some of the others might seem a bit more obscure.

But, remember the Center for Community Change?

Their "action arm" called Campaign for Community Change is an organization that donated $9000 to the leftist group, Promise Arizona, to help support "republican" Jerry Lewis during the recall election.  Jerry Lewis even chipped in a $100 donation to PAZ in June and the only candidate that PAZ helped during the primary election was Raquel Teran, Randy Parraz's community organizer sidekick.  Quid pro quo.  Wouldn't it be ironic if PAZ helps Jerry Lewis' opponent in the general election?

Also, the leaders of the Arizona AFL-CIO (Rebekah Friend and Paul Castaneda) personally helped Randy Parraz get Jerry Lewis elected.  In fact, Castaneda is the treasurer of Moving Mesa Forward, Parraz and Chad Snow's creation which donated over $6500 to help Bob Worsley defeat Russell Pearce in the 2012 primary election.  Someone might want to inform Snow that they owe $150 in late fees for their group.

So, imagine our surprise when we noticed that America Votes contributed to Jerry Lewis' Democratic opponent, Ed Ableser.

What?  Wait a second...the same groups that helped Jerry Lewis get elected during the recall are now donating to his opposition?

And not only are they donating to support Ed Ableser but they are also donating to Andrew Sherwood's campaign.  Sherwood was a big help to Parraz during the recall effort.  He was also the best man at Todd Landfried's wedding.

Sherwood and Landfried, spokesman for the Arizona Employers for Immigration Reform:

Landfried and Lydia Guzman:

Raquel Teran, Randy Parraz and AFL-CIO Paul Castaneda

Todd Landfried hugging Jerry Lewis on election night:

Who would have EVER seen that coming?

Remember when the Director of Center for Community Change, Deepak Bhargava, said this on Obama's Poverty Agenda?

Three ingredients necessary for transformational change to happen.
(6:17) "We do need visionary leadership that's capable of building durable coalitions. We need crisis, economic, foreign policy or otherwise, that force the breakdown of old paradigms and old ways of seeing the world. And most importantly, we need independent social movements that create public will to generate ideas that will deliver votes."

and this on immigration.

"...a group of immigrant leaders approached me and the Center for Community Change with the idea of doing a national campaign to win legalization for the growing population of undocumented people in the US. At that time, the topic was unspeakable in polite Washington conversation discourse—no politician, no national advocacy organization would tackle it. Partly because of the extraordinary quality of the leaders that approached us, and partly because it was so clear that we couldn’t be an anti-poverty organization without tackling immigration, we decided to go all-in.
We helped to form what was the earliest pro-legalization coalition in the country,
and we’ve been in it ever since."

Arizona Accountability Project

On September 10th, an independent expenditure group registered under the name the Arizona Accountability Project.

The Chairman of the group is Linda Somo and the Treasurer listed is Joseph Losada.

Losada is the CPA for the illegal immigrant sympathizer organization Valle del Sol   who is part of another lawsuit against SB1070.  The group claims that they might be discriminated against simply because of their name.

One of the Senior management members for Valle del Sol is Luz Sarmina. Sarmina is also a member of "The Real Arizona Coalition" which includes groups such as Chicanos por la Causa, proponents of the Arizona Accord, Todd Landfried from the Arizona Employers for Immigration Reform, Friendly House, Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, etc. Many of whom are listed as plaintiffs in the lawsuit.

Linda Somo is the President of the Arizona Education Association-Retired organization.

Linda Somo also hosted a meet and greet with Bob Worsley during the primary campaign sponsored by the Mesa Education Association.  When it was discovered that the Mesa Education Association was an affiliate of the Saul Alinsky Industrial Areas Foundation, the meet and greet invite information was scrubbed from Worsley's Facebook page.

Mesa Education Association (May 9, 2012)

Join friends and neighbors to meet the candidate Bob Worsley...Republican candidate for AZ State Senate in new LD25. Monday, May 14 6:30 PM 4240 E. Hope St. Mesa, AZ 85205 RSVP to Linda Somo at Lsomo@cox.net. Refreshments provided.

The Arizona Accountability Project has received $300,000 from another IE called Revive Arizona Now.  Joseph Losada is listed as the treasurer for both funds.

Revive Arizona Now received funding from:

Great Schools Now - $50k
NEA - $266k
UFCW - $90k
Building Arizona's Future $20k
Arizona LIST PAC - $5k
Mi Familia Vota - $50k
Southwest Regional Carpenters $100k

The Arizona Accountability Project has since donated to either advocate the election or defeat of candidates in the upcoming general election.  Such as:

Advocating election of Tom Chabin - Democrat District 6 running against Republican Chester Crandell   $146k

Advocating defeat of Joe Ortiz - Republican District 8 running against Democrat Barbara McGuire $116k

Advocating defeat of Jerry Lewis - Republican District 26 running against Democrat Ed Ableser  $75k

Advocating defeat of John McComish - Republican District 18 running against Democrat Jane Hydrick  $97k

Advocating defeat of Frank Antenori - Republican District 10 running against Democrat David Bradley  $40k

We couldn't understand why Mr. Lewis would choose to mingle with radical leftists during the recall election.  It didn't make sense why Mr. Worlsey would chose to pander to a group of leftists during the primary election.  Linda Somo donated $50 to his campaign.  We also couldn't figure out why those on Worsley's campaign upon learning about Ms. Somo, chose to push the narrative that she was just a "harmless grandma having a few neighbors over for cookies."

It appears that the "harmless grandma" has contributed over $36k to defeat Worsley's pal, Jerry Lewis, in spite of the fact that these groups (Valle del Sol, Chicanos por la Causa, Todd Landfried, etc) helped Lewis win the recall election.

Oops.

The sweet grandma also gave another $30k to defeat Lewis' other Buddie, John McComish.

Rich Crandall, John McComish, Bob Worsley, Jerry Lewis, Adam Driggs on Primary Election night.

Partnering with ignorant and willful "Republicans",  just another way the left is turning Arizona blue.

Yes, Harry Reid Went There

Harry Reid has officially pulled the Mormon card.  In a recent conference call with reporters, Reid spoke ahead of a Romney campaign stop in Utah,

'He’s coming to a state where there are a lot of members of the LDS Church. They understand that he is not the face of Mormonism.'

Now, we distinctly remember Obama's surrogates stating that they wouldn't bring Romney's religion into the campaign.  Even when Mormon Senator Orrin Hatch said that the president's reelection team was "going to throw the Mormon church at [Romney] like you can't believe", the DNC Chairwoman, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz said that it was "utter nonsense and preposterous" to even suggest such an idea.  She even went on to say in a round-about way,

"For them to suggest that religion will be injected [into the election] by President Obama and the Democratic Party, I mean, I think they need to take a look inward at the accusations that their party and their supporters have hurled before they take that step."

As recently as August 30th, Obama's campaign said it would not make an issue of Romney’s Mormonism during the lead up to the November election.  Obama strategist and right-hand man, David Axelrod said that both candidates' personal religious views were not "fair game."

But who could Obama use to legitimately attack Romney's religion without coming across as looking like a slimy faith-baiter?

Harry Reid.

Fellow "thou shalt not bear false witness" Mormon, Harry Reid who has spent the last month doing Obama's bidding by distracting us from the murder of our Ambassador in Libya, the 8.3% unemployment rate and the 16 trillion dollar deficit by falsely accusing Romney of not paying a dime in taxes over the last 10 years.  Reid has to save face somehow after he was put to shame last week after Romney showed that he donated 4 million dollars (30% of his income) to charity just last year alone.

So Harry, where are YOUR taxes?

Of course, this isn't the first time we've seen those in the Mormon church using their status and influence to attack a fellow member of the church by implying that they are not true followers of the faith.  Friends of Senate candidate puppets Jerry Lewis and Bob Worsley constantly claimed that Russell Pearce didn't follow the "teachings of the LDS church."

Like, for example, newly appointed honorary Arizona Consul to Chile, Ken Smith (second from left) who said,

"To think that a so called "member" of the Church, i.e., Russell Pearce, would hunt these members and their families down like animals and deport them makes me sick to my stomach. In my humble opinion, Russell Pearce is not living his religion. The Savior taught that in the last days, even the very elect will be deceived. That prophesy has somewhat been fulfilled in that Russell Pearce has been elected and now he has been deceived."

Or another fellow Mormon, Daryl Williams, who said,

“Russell Pearce, the chief proponent of Arizona’s immigration laws is, like me, a Mormon. His views, however, do not reflect the official position of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the official name of the Mormon church. Indeed, Mr. Pearce’s views are inconsistent with the official position of his church.”

And finally, a former Vice Chairman candidate for the Arizona Republican party who tweeted on September 23, 2011 about Russell Pearce,

"Members can have their own opinions and not be in
harmony w/LDS policy.
I stand w/the church."

Aside from both being members of the Mormon church, Russell Pearce and Mitt Romney have something else in common.  Both have been reluctant to discuss their faith in the political arena. Their LDS opponants, however, chose to play by different rules.

To use Mr. Smith's words:

"The Savior taught that in the last days, even the very elect will be deceived. That prophesy has somewhat been fulfilled in that (Harry Reid) has been elected and now he has been deceived."

New Immigration "Tone." Or So We're Being Told.

Well, that didn't take long .  Liberals and their new-found "Republican" friends will once again, shove "immigration reform" and a guest worker program down our throats.  Our economy must be BOOMING and our unemployment rate at near 0% if we're discussing guest worker bills again.

No?

Last week, there were 365,000 new jobless claims filed and according to the Department of Labor, there are 12.5 million unemployed U.S. citizens. Another 12 million are considered "under-employed."  There are an (extremely low) estimated 12 million illegals in the United States. (Is a guest worker program Bob Worsley's idea for creating jobs?)

Last month, Obama granted amnesty work permits to over 1.7 million illegals who will flood the workforce and compete with legal U.S. citizens for jobs.  Not only will illegals be given work permits but they will also have

"complementary access to welfare programs — will also be granted to individuals 'with a significant disability … or [who are] far, far below the national poverty level' "

Spreading the wealth around.

It was almost funny to read in the AZ Central article that lewsley Republicans, Jerry Lewis and Bob Worsley, are considered "influential."  Huh?  What exactly have they even DONE that has been "influential?"  Worsley hasn't even been officially elected as a Senator yet and Lewis was nothing but a pariah for all of one session and who will more than likely lose his short-lived seat in November.  (Too bad Steve Pierce drained the Republican Victory fund to help his fellow lewsley Republican, Rich Crandall, in the primary election). We also thought it was funny that throughout the recent primary campaign, Bob Worsley was so influential that he dropped Bill Montgomery's name dozens of times when he discussed implementing a guest worker program Montgomery evidently supports.

(Randy Parraz on left with Todd Landfried at a panel discussion)

The AZ Central article mentioned other illegal alien sympathizers like Tamar Jacoby and Todd Landfried.  For a refresher on Jeff Flake's good friend Tamar Jacoby and Randy Parraz's sidekick, Todd Landfried, visit our previous blog entries HERE and HERE.  In fact, it was Landfried who went to Utah to push for the Utah Compact back in 2010 along with Lydia Guzman from Somos America.  It is Lydia Guzman who is trying to line up discrimination cases in an effort to get the federal government to sue Arizona over SB1070's "show your papers" enforcement.

(Landfried on left, Guzman on right testifying in Utah about the Utah Compact)

Lydia Guzman with Tom Perez from the U.S. Justice Department

Just a quick reminder:

In January 2011, Jeff Flake said this:

" 'Comprehensive' has gotten a bad word. But until we have a better one I'll use that. While we need to enhance border security, that's not enough. You have to have a viable mechanism to deal with the people who are here. My party hasn't come to grips with that.' He explains that his own state of Arizona passed a controversial law that allows for us to 'more easily round people up. But that's not the problem. The problem is what to do about them after we get them.' On a political level, he says the 'tone and tenor of the debate' needs to improve on the Republican side. But the substance remains the nub of the problem. He says the problem is 'more complicated' than his party would like to admit...But given the current politics, I'd like to be optimistic (about reform legislation), but I'm not."

A few months later in March 2011 (right before Flake announced his plans to run for the Senate) and just a month after a special meeting in the Oval Office with President Obama, he did a miraculous 180 and said this:

"In the past I have supported a broad approach to immigration reform - increased border security coupled with a temporary worker program. I no longer do...I've been down that road, and it is a dead end. The political realities in Washington are such that a comprehensive solution is not possible, or even desirable given the current leadership.

We imagine that if Flake is elected Senator, he will suddenly have another change of heart and go back to his desire for a guest worker program along with his fellow Senator, Juan McCain.  It will certainly be easier for them to push immigration reform and claim they are simply following the will of the "majority" (which majority, however, is the question). Given the new leadership and all...

And what about the statement from the AZ Central article by Jerry Lewis when he said,

(enforcement-only approach) "hasn't worked. It doesn't work. Any reform that is based on an enforcement-only platform is bound to fail."

Bob Worsley made similar statements during the Primary campaign.

Where have we seen this assertion before?

Ah, yes

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is concerned that any state legislation that only contains enforcement provisions is likely to fall short of the high moral standard of treating each other as children of God.

This particular statement contradicts what the LDS Handbook states regarding emigration to ANY country.  Also, it seems odd that this same source would essentially imply that their position trumps current law, specifically the 10th Amendment and state sovereignty.

It would seem strange that this same source would say this about the issue of abortion :

The Church has not favored or opposed legislative proposals or public demonstrations concerning abortion.

And yet, the LDS church DOES have a strong opinion of opposing legislation regarding illegal immigration?

Just so we understand, anti-abortion legislation doesn't qualify for "falling short of the high moral standard of treating each other as children of God" yet legislation to crack down on those who choose to disobey the law and willingly separate their families is more worthy of an opinion by the LDS church?

The LDS handbook states:

"Generally, members are encouraged to remain in their native lands to build up and strengthen the Church....As members remain in their homelands and work to build the Church there, great blessings will come to them personally and to the Church.

Experience has shown that those who emigrate often encounter language, cultural, and economic challenges, resulting in disappointment and personal and family difficulties.

Members who emigrate to any country should comply with applicable laws.

When coming to the United States or other countries on student or tourist visas, members should not expect to find jobs or obtain permanent visas after entering that country."

This would imply that members of the LDS church who emigrate to Mexico, or Belgium, or South Africa, or anywhere else in the world, should comply with the applicable immigration laws of that country.

The immigration laws of Mexico are far stricter than those in the United States.  Mexican law

"...mandates that federal, local and municipal police cooperate with federal immigration authorities in that country in the arrests of illegal immigrants.
Under the Mexican law, illegal immigration is a felony, punishable by up to two years in prison. Immigrants who are deported and attempt to re-enter can be imprisoned for 10 years. Visa violators can be sentenced to six-year terms. Mexicans who help illegal immigrants are considered criminals."

Notice that the laws of Mexico allow for cooperation from both local and municipal police with the federal government.  Does the LDS church feel as strongly about Mexico's state enforcement only laws as they do with U.S. state enforcement laws?

In the first unnamed LDS Newsroom source, it implies that those who come to the United States are somehow immune from following the U.S. immigration laws.  It also gives the impression that states are not allowed to protect themselves for fear of being accused of "falling short of the high moral standard of treating each other as children of God."

Something else that falls short of the high moral standard?  An illegal who steals a 10 year old girl's identity and destroys her credit in order to take a job that should go to a LEGAL citizen.  Or another illegal who uses our country's generous resources (schools, hospitals, etc) and doesn't pay for those services but rather, forces others to pick up the tab.

Remember this video of an immigration lawyer who teaches others how to NOT hire legal citizens:

"Our goal is clearly, NOT to find a qualified
and interested U.S. worker."

We suspect that we will once again see something similar to the Utah Compact paraded around Arizona very soon by radical leftists.  That is, now that the tone and tenor has shifted thanks to liberals who masquerade as Republicans and partner with Democrats, all in the spirit of compromise.

As Van Jones once said, you have to "forgo the radical pose for the radical ends."  Like Van Jones and Barack Obama, the open borders, Aztlan crowd have learned that they will attract more flies with honey than with vinegar.  It appears these infiltrators to our country have learned that they can use "faith-based" organizations to help give the illusion that they just want a new tone and an elevated conversation, when what they really want is JUSTICE.

More Worsley Post-Election Review

Isn't it interesting that we have to wait until AFTER the election to hear the truth?  It's a little like when Nancy Pelosi said that we have to "pass the bill before we can see what's in it."

Parraz and his new organization called Moving Mesa Forward personally collected over 200 ballots from people who voted for Worsley over Russell Pearce in the primary election.  They knew exactly which homes to go to in order to collect their ballots because during the recall, they registered over 7000 people throughout Arizona (with a focus on LD18) and made copies of the forms to keep in their office.  (They registered another 8000 leading up to the primary election last month). They also made sure to mark the Perminant Early Voter List (PEVL) box on the voter registration form so that the voter would automatically be mailed a ballot.

"Maybe a ballot's owner had forgotten about his or her ballot, or was not intending to vote. Working off a list of such persons, a volunteer or a paid canvasser makes an appearance at a voter's door, encouraging the individual to fill out the ballot, and offering to deliver it to county elections."

A majority of the paid canvassers did not even live in Worsley's district.

Registering voters and collecting their ballots during the recall:

<------ LOOK!  It's Carmen Guerrero on the right!  We've seen her before!

For those who weren't home, a flier was left on their door that looked like this:

Was this what Worsley meant when he claimed he wanted to "elev8" Mesa from extremists?

"Parraz and his people have been targeting Independents and Hispanics this time around, urging Dems to register as Indies, and encouraging Indies to request Republican ballots, as they are allowed to do in Arizona primaries.

The result of MMF's efforts, brags Parraz, has been an estimated 2,000 votes scored for Pearce's rival in the Legislative District 25 GOP primary for state Senate, where Pearce mounted a doomed comeback."

According to the final vote count, Worsley only beat Pearce by 3600 votes of which 2000 can be attributed to Parraz.

We've been hearing rumors that Parraz's group wasn't the only one encouraging Democrats to re-register as Independents in order to vote in the Republican Primary and elect a more lewsley Republican.  Especially in districts where a Democrat won't have a chance of winning in the general election.  At least not THIS time around.

 Who is Parraz's next target?

"Next we're going to defeat [Sheriff Joe] Arpaio," smiled Parraz,
holding up a handful of ballots bearing Latino surnames.
"Look at this, and they say [Hispanics] don't vote."

After Arpaio it will be Governor Jan Brewer.  After Brewer, we suspect the next target will be Andy Biggs.  After all, if gullible  Conservative East Mesa could be turned moderate....

Parraz's Citizens For A Better Arizona (CBA) funded Moving Mesa Forward to the tune of $40,000.  Let's not forget that Republicans donated to CBA during the recall. (Don Stapley, Liana Clarkson, Kenneth P. Smith) This money went to hiring 25 people to canvass on Bob Worsley's behalf during the campaign.

We have a glimpse into what Worsley will be like in the legislature based on Jerry Lewis' voting record and willingness to pander to Democrats more than Republicans.

Worsley also posted the following on his Facebook page about compromise.

"To avoid bickering....men and women meet together and adjust their differences;  this is compromise.  He who stands unyielding and immovable upon a principle is often a fool, and often bigoted, and usually left standing alone with his principle while other men adjust their differences and go on."

Aside from Worsley's back-handed slap to the TEA Party (who actually stand FIRM in their beliefs and principles) by painting the them as fools and bigots, where is there any room to compromise with Marxism or Socialism? It is in the spirit of compromise between the elites of BOTH parties that is destroying our Country.  For some reason, the only ones who are expected to "give" are the ACTUAL Conservatives who support the TEA Party's values.

So, who IS the greater fool?
